Paul Zarda Has High Level of Expertise in Mechanical Computer Aided Engineering

Paul Zarda of Orlando is a Distinguished Member, Technical Staff, and Manager of the Engineering Methods Group at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. Here, he provides direct support of the engineering community in the areas of Mechanical Design and Analysis, System’s Engineering, and Optical Design. It is the responsibility of this Group to help provide the hardware, software and expertise/training for an engineer to efficiently perform his/her job.

Paul Zarda has both theoretical and practical expertise in the area of Mechanical Computer Aided Engineering (MCAE) and Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE). He has chaired a Mechanical Design benchmarking team at the local and corporate level. Owing to his skills and expertise in the field, he was chosen from among 80 engineers spanning 25 contractors as Chairman of the Guidance Team for DARPA’s MADE Program. This team received recognition from the Director of DARPA for their contribution in KBE methodology.

Talking about his accomplishments, he has been offered over 20 CES courses over the last 19 years at Lockheed Martin (very few individuals, if any, have offered this many courses).  These courses have covered Introductory and Advanced Finite Element Modeling, Structural Optimization, Solid's Modeling, Introduction into the Finite Element Method, Introductory and Advanced NASTRAN Analysis, Finite Element/Finite Difference Thermal Analysis, NASTRAN Thermal Analysis, and Advanced Dynamic Analysis.

When Paul Zarda is not busy with professional commitments, he likes to spend time with his family, including his wife Adrienne, their three children and their five grandchildren (and still counting); playing tennis as well as the design and analysis of tennis racquets; wood working in his home shop; and his recent association with 30,000 “alligator friends” at his home on Orlando’s Lake Jesup, Florida’s “highest density of gators” lake.
